Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my story! I have been silently battling kidney disease for the past 17 years. I found it extremely important to focus on living my life to the fullest and healthy, but this year my kidneys entered "end of stage renal failure" which means I need a donor as soon as possible. To check if you can be a potential donor, please check comments section for the link. To read my story, continue below.
At one point, I thought my kidney issues were resolved, but I had a relapse during a family get together and had a near death experience. My whole body felt as if it gave up on me, but I've never been a quitter and I wont let this control my life for the sake of my kids and family.
This disease is hereditary and 2 years ago I lost my dad to the same diagnosis. I have been lucky to have been supported by family during this process, regardless of their support we have yet to find a donor and the list is years long for one.
I am a believer in the silver lining and know that God has a plan for me. So why are we fundraising? Since I've entered kidney failure I have not been able to eat, sleep, or work. I do have health insurance, but there are numerous expenses that I will come by once I find a donor; many of which just wont be covered by my health insurance.
Expected costs pre/post surgery:
-pre-transplant evaluations and testing
-extensive dental work (required for cardiac clearance)
-surgery
-time spent in ICU
-post-op physical therapy and rehab
-Medications
-lost wages for recovery (out of work since July)
-Postop ongoing treatment
Asking money from friends, family and strangers is very difficult for me. I have always been a giver and to be the recieving end of help is putting me in a position of humble gratitude. I am beyond grateful to every donation... I cannot find the words. On behalf of my myself and my children, thank you for taking the time to read my story.
