This is our Uncle Don and “Merciful Heavens!” was one of his favorite expletives. It never failed to crack us up.
In 1995 he was hit by a run-a-way tire while on his daily walk across the Golden Gate Bridge in SF. We didn’t know it then, but that accident would lead to progressive dementia that would transform him from an active and independent Speech Pathologist into a permanent resident in a Memory Care Center.
After multiple stays in different facilities in his home state of WA, he was finally placed in a wonderful center in Renton, WA near family. Unfortunately, with the COVID-19 crisis affecting his only “income” from stocks in annuities, he is now unable to pay for care there. We are attempting to buy some time and raise funds to help him through the next two months.
Uncle Don has done so much to help our family over the years, and now would love nothing more than to take care of him.
We have all have been affected financially by this pandemic, but if you are able to help, please do.
