What was to be a fun memorial day trip to Alabama has gone a bit different. Santi and Serena were in an ATV accident yesterday. Santi busted open the back of his head resulting in 5 staples and 1 stitch. He had some other minor scrapes and cuts but is ok. Serena however didn't fair as well, she was knocked unconscious and was busted up from the top of her head to her feet. She was airlifted to the University hospital here in Birmingham. She had some bleeding on the brain when she came in but that has stopped and not gotten any worse. She has a broken right cheek bone and a broken right collar bone. She has also fractured her spine in two vertebrae. She has full movement and feeling through her whole body and the doctors say that it will not require surgery. She has a ton of road rash and a pretty good cut on her left foot. With all that being said and all things considered we got the best news we good get about all her injuries. She has a long recovery in front of her but nothing that will require surgery, just time to heal itself. She is in a lot of pain but is feeling better. She actually sat up tonight and ate dinner.
