Hoy queremos contaros la historia de una pequeña luchadora que muchos de vosotros ya conocéis: Mercedita.

Mercedita llegó al mundo siendo una potrilla dismadura. Aunque nació al final de la gestación, su organismo y su aparato locomotor no habían alcanzado una maduración completa, y desde sus primeros momentos de vida quedó claro que iba a necesitar mucha ayuda.

Pero Mercedita tenía algo enorme a su favor: unas ganas inmensas de vivir. ❤️

Con la ayuda constante de sus cuidadores consiguió alimentarse perfectamente de la leche de su mamá y comenzó a crecer rodeada de cuidados, cariño y de un montón de personas que se fueron enamorando de ella.

Desde muy pequeña presentaba problemas en sus cuatro extremidades. Sus patitas delanteras eran las que inicialmente más preocupaban y durante mucho tiempo necesitaron curas, atención y muchísimo trabajo.

Poco a poco conseguimos algo que nos hizo enormemente felices: sus extremidades delanteras fueron mejorando.

Pero mientras Mercedita crecía, comenzó otra batalla.

Sus patas traseras fueron empeorando progresivamente y los problemas de sus rodillas empezaron a hacerse cada vez más evidentes.

Cuando todavía era muy pequeña fue valorada por un veterinario maravilloso que creyó en ella y nos transmitió mucha paz, nos dió fuerzas para seguir luchando con ella y se realizaron las primeras radiografías, en las que ya se observaron alteraciones a nivel de sus rodillas. En aquel momento había que esperar, darle tiempo para crecer y ver cómo evolucionaba su desarrollo.

Pero Mercedita siguió creciendo… y el problema también.

Hace unas semanas volvió a ser valorada por Pablo y se realizaron nuevas radiografías. Actualmente presenta problemas graves en ambas rodillas, con luxación de las rótulas, una situación que ha llegado al punto de impedir que nuestra pequeña pueda levantarse por sí sola.

Y aquí es donde empieza la siguiente parte de su historia.

Nuestro veterinario, Pablo, no se ha rendido con ella. Ha movido su caso, ha contactado con especialistas y ha buscado una alternativa que pueda darle a Mercedita aquello por lo que llevamos luchando desde que nació:

UNA OPORTUNIDAD.

Una oportunidad para poder levantarse.

Una oportunidad para caminar.

Una oportunidad para crecer.

Y, sobre todo, una oportunidad para tener calidad de vida. ❤️

Existe una posibilidad quirúrgica para intentar corregir sus problemas y vamos a luchar por ella.

Sabemos que no es un camino sencillo. Sabemos que hablamos de una cirugía especializada, de desplazamientos, pruebas, hospitalización, medicación, cuidados posteriores y rehabilitación.

Y también sabemos que solos no podemos hacerlo.

Por eso hoy, desde La Casa de las Estrellas, necesitamos pedir ayuda para Mercedita.

Today we want to tell you the story of a little fighter many of you already know: Mercedita.

Mercedita came into the world as a dysmature foal. Although she was born at the end of her gestation, her body and musculoskeletal system had not fully matured, and from her very first moments it was clear that she was going to need a lot of help.

But Mercedita had something enormous in her favour: an immense will to live. ❤️

With the constant help of her caregivers, she was able to feed perfectly from her mother’s milk and began to grow surrounded by care, love and so many people who were falling in love with her.

From a very young age, she had problems with all four of her limbs. Her front legs were initially the main concern and, for a long time, they required treatment, attention and an enormous amount of work.

Little by little, we achieved something that made us incredibly happy: her front legs began to improve.

But as Mercedita grew, another battle began.

Her hind legs progressively deteriorated, and the problems with her knees became increasingly evident.

When she was still very young, she was examined by a wonderful veterinarian who believed in her and gave us a great deal of reassurance and strength to keep fighting alongside her. Her first X-rays were taken, and they already showed abnormalities in her knees. At that time, we had to wait, give her time to grow and see how her development progressed.

But Mercedita kept growing… and so did the problem.

A few weeks ago, she was examined again by Pablo and new X-rays were taken. She now has serious problems in both knees, including dislocation of the kneecaps, a condition that has reached the point where our little girl is unable to stand up on her own.

And this is where the next chapter of her story begins.

Our veterinarian, Pablo, has not given up on her. He has taken her case further, contacted specialists and looked for an alternative that could give Mercedita what we have been fighting for since the day she was born:

A CHANCE.

A chance to stand up.

A chance to walk.

A chance to grow.

And, above all, a chance to have a good quality of life. ❤️

There is a surgical option that could potentially correct her problems, and we are going to fight for her.

We know it will not be an easy journey. We know we are talking about specialised surgery, travel, tests, hospitalisation, medication, aftercare and rehabilitation.

And we also know that we cannot do this alone.
