Hello, my companion Mephisto has been sick for the past week. I took him to a vet last Thursday and he was diagnosed with a stomach virus and placed on 2 different medications and a vitamin regimine. He was not getting any better so I decided to get a second opinion. At the second vet they performed additional test and xrays to determine if he had eaten anything he wasnt supposed to. Everything came back negative so they checked his insulin/ketones and they diagnosed him with diabetes. Mephisto started to go into shock and needed to be transferred to a 24 hour energency pet hospital to be cared and monitored for 48-72 hours. The vet gave him a 60% chance of survival through the night and gave us a bill of $4,250. The remaining amount is to help cover the vet bills from the previous vet visits which came up to about $900. Once dogs become diabetic, they are diabetic for life and require two shots of insulin per day. I decided to pay the vet bills and take on this burden because he is only 3 and a half years old and has such a long life to live. I spent the whole day contemplating what to do because this was such a heavy burden financially, but I love Mephisto so much and wanted to continue to give him the life he deserves. Any amount of help from the community is very appreciated. Even a share goes a long way. If you made it this far, i want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time.
