Melissa and Brent Mentele suffered through a house fire on Wednesday, March 2nd. The house did not burn down completely, but the damages are extensive.

 

The fire started from decorative string lights in an upstairs bedroom used by their teenage son Luke. Thankfully he was not home at the time of the fire, and Mel and Brent were unharmed. But unfortunately, three of their beloved pets did not make it out of the home alive.

We started this fund to assist with home clean-up and repair costs, cost of living, and assistance with pet burial or cremation.

 

Mel and Brent are not ones to ask for help but are the first to show up when others need assistance. Mel is best known in South Dakota for her years of fierce advocacy for medicinal cannabis patients and is the author of IM-26. She has spent years volunteering her time helping others, and it is our time to help her and her wonderful family.
