Mental health treatment for Gabi
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sophie, and I'm writing this on behalf of a dear friend.
Since we were in middle school, I knew Gabi struggled with mental health. But in recent months, after 23 years of getting by managing these issues on her own, her struggles with suicidal thoughts became harder to bear and spiraled outside of what my friends and I felt we could manage. After many close calls, Gabi sought emergency care at a psychiatric residential treatment center, where she has been staying for the past two weeks.
We felt that no matter the cost, this would be life-saving care. At this facility, Gabi finally has access to medication, as well as one-on-one and group therapy. She will also be connected to outpatient resources that will help her throughout her recovery.
Luckily, Gabi was still on her parent's health insurance, but she is responsible for covering the deductible for this care ($4000) as well as rent and other living expenses for at least two months while she is receiving treatment. Despite her job as a barista, Gabi simply cannot cover this cost with her savings alone—like many young people, she was already struggling with student debt. Our goal is to be able to take care of the financial aspect of this treatment so that she can focus solely on her mental health recovery.
I know personally how hard it is to reach out for help for mental health issues, and Gabi's decision to seek the help she desperately needed should not saddle her with years of debt. Any amount, however big or small, would mean the world to her and the people who care about her.
Thank you!!
P.S. If you want to avoid the gofundme fees, you can venmo me directly at @unbairable and I will pass it on!
