Hi! We are six students from Warrnambool College and we are trying to make a difference in our community. In Term 3, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend the School for Student Leadership (SSL) at the Snowy River Campus. As a condition for going there, we had to create a Community Learning Project (CLP) that will benefit those in our local area. Our idea had an overall aim to spread awareness about mental health and cultural diversity, and we are doing this by having an Indigenous mural up somewhere in Warrnambool as well as talk about the importance of having good mental health to primary schools. We relate to these ideas because we are all passionate about having more cultural awareness and all of us have had experiences struggling with mental health which are either our own or someone we’re close to. This project will come with a cost, and because of COVID, we are unable to fundraise as we were going to, so we decided to set up a go fund me page. The money would go towards the mural, and anything left over will go towards a charity that advocates for people's mental health of our choosing. Thank you so much for reading, and we really appreciate anything you can spare!
