Mental Health Matters: An Ostomate for Miss Universe Canada

Hi, I’m Sara Levitt, competing for Miss Universe Canada with a mission to raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), a cause deeply personal to me.

Diagnosed with colitis at 3 and Crohn’s disease at 11, I underwent life-saving ostomy surgery at 13. For years, I hid my bag out of shame, but now I proudly live as an ostomate, advocate, model and creator.

Mental health is a huge part of my journey, chronic illness and an ostomy impacts the mind as much as the body. Through this platform, I want to break stigma, normalize visible differences, and inspire others to own their stories.
