Mental Health Awareness Match: Joe Fehr

Donation protected
One year ago, we tragically lost Joe Fehr to a battle with mental illness.  A son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, teammate, and friend, Joe was a light that brightened everybody’s world.  His smile was contagious, his intelligence was envied, his work ethic and passion towards life, school and soccer were inspirational, and his charismatic personality was noticed by everybody that had the chance to know him.

Joe was the backbone of the Drury University men’s soccer team.  The energy and leadership that he brought into every practice and game had a profound impact on the success of the team.  Joe’s #17 jersey will forever be retired at Drury University.  To celebrate the life of Joe, Drury University men’s soccer team will be hosting the 2nd annual Mental Health Awareness Match: In Memory of Joe Fehr on Friday, April 26that 7pm in Springfield, Missouri.  This event involves a soccer game between the current Drury University soccer team and the Drury University soccer alumni.

Last year, this event raised $4,500 to support the Kim Foundation, a non-profit organization in Omaha, Nebraska which raises awareness and provides resources related to mental illness.  This year, we have set a goal of $5,000 and will be donating the money to the Burrell Center for Behavioral Health in Springfield, Missouri. This organization currently serves more than 40,000 individuals across 17 counties in Missouri and is dedicated to supporting mental health awareness programs in schools.

For those that can make it to the event on Friday, April 26th, we cannot wait to see you there!  T-shirts and wristbands will be for sale, and admission will include food and a chance to win various prizes donated by local Springfield businesses and restaurants.  For those that cannot make the event, we have designed this page to collect donations on behalf of Joe Fehr.  Every dollar raised from the event and this page will be donated directly to the Burrell Center for Behavioral Health.

Nobody will be able to fill Joe’s shoes as a player, classmate and friend.  We will forever love and miss him but know that we are very lucky to have such a special guardian angel watching over us.  Joe will forever be our motivation and inspiration to live every day to the fullest.  We will continue to “Live Like Joe” and make him proud.

We love and miss you, Joe.  #JF17
