There are an estimated 3.1million Ghanaians out of a total population estimated to be 31m, who have one form of mental disorder or another, with 16,000 having severe cases. (Source: https://citinewsroom.com/2021/07/3-1-million-ghanaians-suffering-from-mental-health-issues-health-minister/). Of the 16,000 severe cases, many are destitute and have been kept in conditions you may find distressing to watch.

Mental Health Advocacy Foundation (MHAF) Ghana is working among the most destitute of the destitute, breaking shackles and chains and rescuing precious lives. The MHAF Team operates primarily in the Northern and Upper Regions of Ghana, where the level of deprivation is higher, relative to the rest of Ghana, to carry on with their life-transforming work.
