Menelik Adoniah Emond medical expense fund
Menelik is a funny, caring, smart, and all around wonderful 13 year old boy. He loves playing video games with his friends, riding his bike, and he loves his family. He started this year thinking this was his year, “It’s the year of the Aquarius” he said with hopes that this would be a better year than 2020. He was getting straightA’s in school and he was so proud when he told us about it. He was finally getting the hang of this virtual learning thing and doing his best to make sure he woke up early enough to eat a good breakfast and login to his classes on time every day.
On January 20, 2021 Menelik got up early so he could go on a bike ride around the neighborhood before he had to start classes that day. Just a few minutes later our neighbor came to our door after he found him lying in the street having a seizure. We called 911 and he was rushed to Loma Linda where they found a brain bleed and rushed him in for emergency brain surgery. His surgery went as well as could be expected but his fight is far from over. After an MRI the doctor found that he had a mini stroke and may have lost the function in that part of his brain and he may have to learn basic functions all over again.
Due to COVID restrictions at the hospital, only parents are able to stay with him and it has only been a couple days but it is taking its toll. His parents aren’t able to go to work and have to take turns going back and forth because they have other kids to take care of. The loss of income, gas, meals, and aftercare are going to get expensive. Hopefully this can help for awhile to relieve some financial stress for both of them.
