Mending the Unexpected - Hip Surgery Support
Donation protected
On July 6, 2023, my sister-in-law, Jill, went in for a routine hip replacement. It would become anything but routine. She came home the same day as the surgery like many patients who have hip replacement. At the time nothing seemed too out of the ordinary.
Although in pain and progress in getting around slower than she wanted or expected, she chalked it up to just "healing" differently. However, at her 2-week post-op appointment, her x-ray showed that the new hip replacement did not take and was out of joint with the screws not holding as expected.
Within days Jill had to see a new surgeon at a different hospital roughly two hours from her home. The surgeon admitted her immediately, with nurses and doctors amazed by her pain tolerance after viewing CT Scans showing the failed hip replacement. She received a second surgery within days to remove the initial hardware placed in her hip.
Currently, Jill is without a hip as she needs to heal for the next 6-8 weeks before a new hip replacement surgery can take place. She was recently transferred from the hospital to a rehabilitation center where she will be for the next week or two while building up strength and healing.
During all this, she's been away from her three young children and her husband, my brother.
To assist with medical bills and retrofit the entryway of her home and improve the accessibility in other areas within her home I'm seeking your kindness to help make this possible.
Please help to make Jill's return home as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Warmly,
Jason
