NINE TIMES! That's how many times 2 year old Mavi has been failed; in and out of the shelter system for a full year. Found as a stray due to negligent owners, passed on to several temporary fosters who didn't have the time for her, back into the shelter system to FINALLY…a breakthrough! A rescue up north committed to take her, so she took the LONG trip from GA to NJ (yet another stressful event for this young girl). A lot of dogs would have broken by now. Mavi has been failed time and again by people. She is continually asked to readjust to new places, people and scary shelters. But Mavi is not broken. She has handled the chaos that has been her life surprisingly well. That said, she is now showing significant signs of severe stress that are detrimental to her health and wellbeing as she sits in yet another shelter facility awaiting her turn at the good life. After professional counsel with multiple shelter staff and trainers it is clear that Mavi cannot stay in a shelter environment any longer. It's not her fault she can no longer function in this environment. She needs a knowledgeable leader to provide for her exercise and conditioning needs; she needs structure and stability. Something she has yet to experience in her life. She has been accepted into a board and train program where Mavi is already understood and will be met where she is, provided the tools and confidence to rehab from the hell that has been her life and blossom again to be the amazing dog we have all seen and know she is. Then, when she is ready, (not when someone else decides to give up on her) she will be an amazing addition to the lucky family who gets to take her home “fur-ever”. Please consider any amount of donation; nothing is too small. The goal amount allows Mavi decompression and rehabilitation with experts in dogs coming out of high-stress situations. After this, we are committed to finding Mavi the perfect home she deserves. She will never step foot in a shelter again!
