Mending Baby A’s Heart

Kim and Paul Andrejkovics are having their first child!
After several years of IVF, the joyful news was celebrated with family and friends. OB appointments and monitoring now became welcomed visits after previous, stressful, disappointing ones. Then came the anatomy scan where they were told they were having a son! The following day they received a call from the OB. She was concerned of cardiac abnormalities. They were referred to a Pediatric Cardiologist. (Who turned out to be an amazing man!) Their baby boy had 4 moderate to severe heart defects that would require the first open-heart surgery (total of 3-4 within the first three years) within the first week of his life. They were referred to a hospital 2hours from their home. The specialists there are experts in pediatric, cardiothoracic surgery. There are none closer to home. They are set to welcome him the third week in February barring no other complications that would require an early delivery.
Kim is a social worker and Paul is a High School Special Education teacher. They will need extended time off from work as well as a place to stay nearby the hospital while their little one undergoes his first open-heart surgery. Luckily, they have insurance but the co-pays will be expansive. Multiple hospitalizations, lodging away from home while the little one is in the Neonatal ICU, co-pays for visits, medications, equipment, homecare, formulas and other needs that cannot be known at this time. We ask you help for whatever it takes to get Baby A and Mom and Dad through this 2-3 year journey to health!
We appreciate everyone who has reached out with emotional support and prayers. Please continue to do so as your love, prayers and support mean more than you could possibly know.
We also request that you lift their names in prayer and we ask that God be with the Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare Workers who will care for Baby A, and Mom and Dad along the way.
