Help With Extensive Orthopedic Surgery for Memphis!

Meet Memphis, a resilient 6-year-old Labradoodle who has already endured a lifetime of challenges. Born and raised in a breeder’s barn in Virginia, Memphis was “retired” from breeding after years of having litter after litter. She never experienced the warmth of a home, the comfort of a collar or leash, or even regular vet checkups and grooming—only receiving minimal care around the times she had puppies. Now, she’s ready for a fresh start, a loving home, and the kindness she’s always deserved.

Our journey to bring Memphis home from Virginia to North Carolina took an unexpected turn. After picking her up, we quickly realized how neglected she had been—covered in dirt and with an overwhelming odor. We stopped at a Tractor Supply in Blairs, VA, hoping to get her cleaned up. Tragically, Memphis got spooked in the parking lot and slipped out of her collar, vanishing into the dark, unfamiliar countryside.

That night, we searched tirelessly, calling out to a dog who likely didn’t know her name and had never known real human affection. With a heavy heart, we returned to NC and took to social media, desperately trying to spread the word and rally help from the Blairs community.

In the following days, sightings of Memphis trickled in, but she remained elusive. Some incredible locals in Blairs stepped up, distributing flyers, searching, and leaving food where she’d been seen. On day five, we enlisted a drone company and organized a search party. Despite hours of searching and a few reported sightings, Memphis continued to evade us, moving along train tracks and Highway 29.

Heartbreakingly, we received a call from the humane society—Memphis had been struck by a car but was alive and receiving urgent care. Rushing back to Virginia, we found her under the compassionate watch of a local Good Samaritan. The vet confirmed no apparent internal injuries but discovered multiple pelvic fractures and a dislocated hip, necessitating immediate specialized care.

Back in NC, an orthopedic specialist found an additional pelvic fracture. Sadly, her injuries were too severe to realign her hip without surgery. Memphis now faces a long road to recovery, with medical costs estimated between $12,000 and $15,000. We are fully committed to giving Memphis the future she deserves—a life filled with love, warmth, and stability. The cost is extremely difficult for us, and would love any help.
