Support students in Memphis, TN

My name is Janisa Brown and I am a first year 3rd grade teacher in Memphis, TN.  I left a 10 year career in Human Resources and California and moved to Memphis, TN for a teacher residency program.  What I loved about this program is that it focused on getting kids from low income urban communities in Memphis to college.

My program is over and it is time for me to have my OWN classroom.  I will again be in a low income urban community in Memphis, TN.  The mission of the organization I will be joining is to help students excel in college AND in life.  This organization is making such a HUGE impact in the community that it serves and I am excited and honored to be apart of it.

I am raising money to help prepare for my 20+ students that I will be teaching this year.  As a first year teacher I have NO supplies, materials etc for my class and as a teacher I do not have a lot of extra money to buy these things.  

I will use the money for supplies and materials as well as making my classroom a happy cheerful place that my students will be excited to learn in.  I also plan on using the money to provide my students with experiences and acticvities to help get them to college and enrich their lives.

This means so much to me because teaching means so much to me and my students mean so much to me.  It also means a lot because getting a good education and going to college will truly be life changing for my students.  I plan on giving a 110% of myself to be apart of this and would truly appreciate your support.
