Honoring Bones: Aid for His Last Medical Bills

Donation protected

1/6/25 Update:

With heavy hearts, and headaches from tears, we must share that despite our tireless efforts and your incredible support, we had to make the difficult decision to let Bones go.

The complications from Addison's disease and pneumonia proved too severe, and he was unable to breathe comfortably for more than 5 minutes outside of the oxygen tank. The vet gently helped us understand his quality of life and we couldn't bear to see him suffer any longer.

While Bones is no longer with us, the substantial medical expenses and end-of-life care remain. Mountain West Veterinary Specialists discounted some services as they realized his condition, as well as ours, so any continued support would help ease this financial burden as we grieve. We've updated the goal to reflect the final costs.

Your generosity and kindness during this journey have meant the world to us. Every donation, message, and share gave us strength during Bones' fight.

Bones was more than a pet; he was our son's protector, our nightly snuggle buddy, and four legged family member. His playful spirit and loving nature touched all who knew him.

Though Bones is gone, the love and community spirit he inspired lives on. Thank you for being part of his story and for helping us honor his memory.

1/5/25 • Emergency Medical Fund for our Pomeranian. Critical Condition. Hospitalized. And we just want him healthy and back at home •

We are asking for your support to aid Bones, our silly, loving little fluff ball, 12-year-old Pomeranian mix, who is fighting a series of life-threatening medical crises. First diagnosed with Addison's disease on Christmas Eve, he is now facing multiple complications requiring extended hospitalization and intensive care at Mountain West Veterinary Specialists in Bluffdale, Utah.

• Timeline of Crisis

December 24, 2024:

- Rush to an emergency vet on Christmas Eve as he was unable to stand, or even move his head on his own.

- Advised to take him to another clinic that could better assist as his heart rate was incredibly low

- Hurried to Mountain West Veterinary Specialists in Bluffdale, UT

- Diagnosed with Addison's disease and in critical condition

- Required emergency hospitalization and treatment overnight

- Initial stabilization achieved, brought him home in Christmas with a lot of info on Addison's Disease and a treatment plan.

January 4th, 2025 - Present:

- Rushed back to emergency vet with severe complications, vomiting, difficulty breathing, and lethargy

- Diagnosed with pneumonia while experiencing an Addison's crisis

- Currently spending his second night in intensive care

- Unable to breathe adequately without supplemental oxygen

- Requiring constant IV medications for both conditions

• Current Critical Care

Bones must remain hospitalized because he cannot breathe well enough without the specialized oxygen cage. His treatment includes:

- 24/7 oxygen therapy in a specialized cage

- IV antibiotics for pneumonia

- IV medications to manage his Addison's crisis

- Continuous fluid therapy

- Around-the-clock monitoring in ICU

- Regular blood work and vital sign checks

• The Financial Reality

As we fight alongside Bones, we're facing a financial mountain that seems almost insurmountable:

Daily ICU Costs: A heart-stopping $2,444 to $4,005 per day. It's like watching a month's rent vanish with each sunrise.

Current Tab: We've already surpassed $6,500.

But Bones' journey doesn't end at the hospital doors.

Looking ahead, we're bracing for lifetime medication & Regular Check-ups/blood work and monitoring and once a month injections. Potential Addison's crisis intervention.

• Be Bones' Hero.

Every dollar you contribute is a lifeline for Bones. Here's how your generosity transforms into hope:

- Oxygen for Bones: Your $50 could buy hours of life-giving oxygen.

-Medicine Matters: $100 might cover a round of critical antibiotics.

-Day Saver: $500 could sponsor a portion of Bones' daily ICU care.

-Guardian Angel: $1,000 or more? You're not just helping; you're potentially saving his life.
