Memory Lanes Pollinator Garden

At Memory Lanes Bar & Grill in Clintonville, Wisconsin, we are working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to plant a 3-acre native pollinator garden on our undeveloped property!

We will be converting a retired hayfield into a space that will both benefit local pollinator species (bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, etc.) and be available to the community for public recreation.

As Wisconsin has been seeing declines in its pollinator species, we want to create a space that will mitigate stressors and enrich populations while also transforming it into something more exciting, educational, and community accessible!

The garden will host a variety of native Wisconsin grasses and wildflowers designed to support the nesting, laying, and foraging needs of pollinators year-round. We will also be creating a Hummingbird Garden and Butterfly Garden, which will still be within the main area, but will be separate sections of plants designed specifically for these species. This will add to the aesthetic of the garden, create a stronger space for these species' needs, and allow for greater educational opportunities. All plants will be perennials, which will also help reduce mowing and other maintenance costs.

Additionally, there will be a walkway open to the public with benches and opportunities for all ages to learn more about the plant and pollinator species that will be seen throughout!

Once the garden has fully established itself, we will promote it to be used by photographers, for outdoor weddings, as an outdoor classroom, and other programs/venues!

We will be preparing the land this Spring and Summer and will be planting/seeding in the Fall of 2022.

We will also be hosting a volunteer day for you, your friends, and family to help us get plants and seeds in the ground!
