Memory Bench for Mathilde (Morgan)

This GoFundMe page is created in the memory of Mathilde (Morgan) Devaux, year 8 student at Killarney Heights High School, taken from us too early by mental illness on 1 May 2022. A MEMORY BENCH FOR MORGAN It is the dearest wish of the Devaux Family to install a bench in the place where Morgan used to meet with friends at Melwood Oval. Morgan loved perching on the concrete water tank to sit and talk. The space will be created so that the community can meet up and socialise outdoors, be themselves, and remember Morgan’s free spirit. A unique and creative mind and one of our own that we will miss dearly. We are in the process of designing a plaque to be affixed to the bench. The final text and design will be decided with the Devaux Family. The installation of the bench is organised with the Northern Beaches Council (NBC). We have scouted for locations to be submitted in the application and the final location will be decided with the NBC so that it best serves its purpose and the community. After discussing it with NBC, we have estimated that the total cost of the project will be in the range of $7,000 to $8,000 and will take about two months to complete. We will know the final costs upon the application being approved. This fundraising project may be combined with other charity fundraising. We will set up a headspace fundraising page specifically for it when the time is right. headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Each year, headspace helps thousands of young people, and their family and friends, access vital support through the headspace services in over 145 communities across Australia, their online and phone counselling services, their vocational services, and their presence in schools. Their local team has been supporting Killarney Heights High School and the broader community.
