Very rarely do we have the privilege of meeting someone who cares for others more than themselves. Larry was certainly one of those people. I'm sure I can speak for all that knew him when I say that he was one of the most caring, generous and loving people I have ever met. I don't think it would be possible to count the number of coffees or lunches he treated his friends to; let alone the number of graduation ceremonies he attended. There are not very many people that can make a 3 hour conversation feel like 5 minutes. He was a huge part of so many students and staff members lives, and he maintained a personal relationship with each one of us. 

I think it is important to keep Larry's positive influence at the University, especially at UWP where he spent of his time with housing. I don't think anything speaks better to the love and compassion he had for others than a bench with his name on it. His friends can visit and feel close to him, and the students and staff that never had the pleasure of meeting him can enjoy a relaxing sit or a chat with friends. A donation of $2000 to the University of Waterloo is required to have a bench and memorial plaque made and placed. I am covering what I am financially able to, and I am asking Larry's friends to do the same if they feel inclined. Anyone who donates will be able to submit and vote on what the memorial plaque will say, with the majority vote being chosen. If we happen to raise under or over $2000 in donations, the unused funds will be donated to Sick Kids as per Larry's wishes.
