Memories of Mother - Film Fundraiser

Hey! I'm Lola Kenet, I'm a student filmmaker raising money for my new film, a sci-fi coming of age short called "Memories of Mother".

This movie takes place in a world where people rely on battery charge to stay conscious. When 21-year-old Manny's mother runs out of battery, he becomes solely responsible for bringing her back to life. This forces Manny to confront the ways the society he once had faith in has failed him, and assume adult responsibilities he would rather avoid. This movie is about growing up. 

I had the idea for this movie in August of 2020, exactly a year before we will begin filming in August of 2021. We need to fundraise to pay for various expenses, including: 
- Camera and lighting equipment 
- Vintage lenses
- Props and production design (including the futuristic chargers) 
- Locations
- Food during production 
- Transportation

I love sci-fi because it allows us to imagine how real people would react to otherworldly circumstances. It can be used to reveal truths about the world we actually live in in a less direct way. But what I find missing from most sci-fi is a character-driven, emotionally resonant story. That is what I want to create, a sci-fi film that also tells the story of a young man struggling to accept impending adulthood and the responsibilities that come with it. 

If you are approaching your early twenties, finding it harder and harder to hold onto your teenage innocence, this movie is for you. 

The crew behind this film is a group of young filmmakers that are passionate about making movies and eager to tell this story that many of us relate to. Your support will help us make this film a reality.
