Meet Cass.
Cass is four years old. He is happy, clever, kind, and deeply sensitive.
A son. A big brother. A grandson, nephew, godson, and a treasured friend to many.
Just weeks ago, he was a typical little boy living a typical life — playing, laughing, learning, growing.
Then rapidly everything changed. What started as small, at first subtle symptoms in December represented something far greater.
An MRI revealed a malignant brain tumour: Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG) also known as a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).
This is inoperable. Incurable.
DMG is an aggressive malignant Grade 4 brain tumour that primarily affects children. The median survival is just 8–10 months. There is no cure. Only palliative care, followed by end-of-life care.
The words don’t feel real. The diagnosis is life-shattering.
And now, life looks very different.
Every moment is precious. Every smile is sacred. Every difficult day is still a gift.
We are raising a bucket list fund to help Cass and his family create beautiful, lasting memories together. To give them the freedom to spend their remaining time as a family of four in comfort and dignity. To ease financial pressures so their focus can remain where it belongs — on Cass.
They don’t want a bucket list fund.
They want the lifetime they imagined — a long, happy future with their healthy boy. But devastatingly, that is not their reality.
Cass and his little sister Darcy should be playing side by side, Darcy shadowing her big brother and learning from him. There should be dinner table negotiations over “five more minutes before bath.” Jo and Nick should be choosing schools, planning birthday parties, and dreaming about the years ahead.
Instead, the reality is that they are travelling back and forth to hospital. They are spending precious time away from their not-yet-two-year-old daughter. They are on the phone arranging appointments, learning how to medically care for their son, and trying — through unimaginable heartbreak — to pour a lifetime of love into the time that remains.
If you are able, please donate whatever you can.
And in Cass’s honour:
Cuddle your children a little longer.
Call your family and friends.
Make the plans.
Spend the money.
Don’t wait.
Don’t take a single moment for granted.
Thank you for helping this beautiful family hold onto love, comfort, and memory in the hardest of times ❤️
