Johnny “Goodtimes” Guidos was more than just a friend—he was a colleague, an adventurer, and a source of inspiration to everyone who knew him. For nearly 30 years, I had the privilege of calling him a close friend, and for over 7 years, we worked side by side. John’s adventurous spirit was contagious. He loved exploring the unknown, hunting for treasures with his metal detector, discovering new places, and creating unforgettable memories with family and friends. His curiosity and zest for life touched everyone around him.
This fundraiser is not intended to cover funeral expenses. Instead, it has been created to establish lasting memorials that celebrate John’s life and ensure that his legacy lives on—especially for his son, who will grow up without the opportunity to know his father firsthand. Our vision is to create one or more permanent memorials in places that were especially meaningful to him, including Indiana, at Purdue University, San Diego, where he spent some time, Key West, where he loved to adventure, southern Maine, where he loved to visit every summer, and potentially a few other locations that helped shape his life. The number, location, and scope of these memorials will depend on the support we receive and the opportunities available. All funds raised will be used exclusively to plan, create, install, and preserve these memorials. Every effort will be made to steward these donations responsibly and transparently. If any funds remain after the memorial project has been completed, the remaining balance will be given to John’s surviving spouse, as his next of kin, to help support the care and future of their son.
More than anything, this project is about preserving John’s legacy and creating places where his son, family, friends, and all who knew him can pause, reflect, and remember the remarkable person he was. We hope these memorials become lasting reminders of the adventurous, generous, and deeply caring life that John lived and the countless people he inspired along the way. Your support will help us honor his memory and ensure that his spirit continues to inspire for generations to come.
