Our beloved Matthew T. Powers passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021. He was loved and respected in our community, especially among the photography communities. He loved this beautiful town and captured memorable shots of every nook and cranny that characterized the beauty and uniqueness of Benicia. He truly had an eye for greatness and it showed in the pictures/posts he shared daily. His specialty and true passion project were the gorgeous Benicia sunsets, and more recently boat races. Not only was he an accomplished photographer, but a brainiac lawyer and amazing family man.

We are looking to memorialize Matthew with a bench and a plaque in the City of Benicia. Goal has been reached for both, and the remainder of the fund will go to the Powers Family to help pay for his medical/household expenses, as Matthew did not have health/life insurance. We hope that he has touched your hearts in one way or another to consider contributing.  We plan to keep his memories alive with this bench, and have a seat with him at the Marina to share a sunset shot or two. We love you Matthew.
