Memorial Fundraiser

Sadly, on September 25, 2021, we lost Norma Lindner, founder of the Halton-Peel Myeloma Support Group, a wonderful legacy that she left for people diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer that is treatable but still incurable.

 

Through this group she provided its members with knowledge, compassion, caring and friendship that they might not otherwise receive. She put her heart and soul into this group by hosting share and care meetings”, arranging interesting guest speakers, and finding venues for the members to socialize and share their stories. She spent countless hours on the phone providing support and information to newly diagnosed and sometimes very frightened patients. She was instrumental in raising funds for the support group and was a key figure at every local Myeloma March fundraiser for many years.

 

The knowledge gained, the friendships formed and the care and compassion that she gave us is immeasurable. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of the many myeloma patients, their caregivers, and many others whose lives she touched so deeply.

 

To recognize Norma’s many contributions, the Halton-Peel Myeloma Support group has decided to adopt a tree in her memory. The tree will be located in Bronte, a place that she loved her entire life, ever since she was a child learning to sail in the harbour. We are raising money to adopt and maintain the tree which will include a cast iron plaque bearing her name.
