Hi, my name is Brooke. My sister, Brittany and I were blessed to have John as a wonderful step-father for the past 16 years, great father-in-law and friend to our husbands and the most amazing Pawpaw to each of our 7 children. But above all he was our Mom, Ursula’s best friend, her encourager, her defender and her husband who always put her first and was there to help support her through anything. Together they built a life that most of us dream of having. Most of their time was spent in Holly Beach where they own and rent out several camps, not just any “camp” but a place that you could go and feel at home while you are there. One things for sure, if you have ever had the privilege of being a “guest” of theirs, they made sure that everyone feels welcomed. If you know John and Ursula, as many of you do, you know that they would give the shirt off of their backs for anyone and would do anything to help.

As we all wish for an infinite lifetime with the ones we love most around us, it’s unfortunate that the time that we had with John did not last as long as we hoped for but the memories that we all had with him will last forever.

On April 10, 2024, only 43 years, John passed away and was welcomed into the gates of Heaven. Our mom is now left alone with their home in Carencro, several Holly Beach camps, bills that do not stop during grief, along with a lot of other financial responsibilities that she will have to figure out how to manage with only a single income. As many of you have enjoyed being a “renter” of one of their camps, this is one hobby that she enjoys and does not want to give up.

John and Ursula have done so much for everyone else and have made such a huge impact on everyone around them, now it’s our turn to return the favor in this time of need. So many people have reached out and asked to help in one way or another and financial support is one of her biggest fears right now. As wonderful as they have been to everyone else, my sister and I don’t want to see her being overwhelmed by financial worries.
