Hi, my name is Tom, and my wife's name is Lori. At 11:57pm on Saturday night (3 minutes before Lori's birthday), her mother passed away from kidney failure. She was 98-years-old. According to hospice, she passed peacefully in her sleep. My wife is heartbroken. Devastated. Our whole world has just shattered. I never thought we would be in this position, but we find ourselves ill-prepared to handle final expenses and make new living arrangements for the two of us. Lori has always been very close to her mother, never living further than across the street from each other. We moved in with her over ten years ago to become her caregivers. Together our incomes just covered expenses, and our income alone will not be sufficient to cover rent, utilities, and food. Not to mention being able to cover cremation, purchasing an urn, a memorial service, and sitting shiva. Plus, since it's so close to the end of the month, we figure we'd need to stay here at least a month to pack everything up and move somewhere more affordable (if that's even an option.) Thank you to anyone who can help.
