Memorial Services for Alice M. Custer
Donation protected
On November 27th 2020 my dear friend Michelle Custer lost her Mother. Her Mother Alice M. Custer had come down with Covid months ago and fought hard to overcome it. After weeks of not testing positive we were all excited that she was on the up and up but unfortunately the virus had made her mind and body weak. She was never again herself or able to fully recover. After being sent back to her long term care facility her health continued to deteriorate and she was rushed to Overland Park Regional ER last Monday. After four days in the hospital and with her daughters Michelle and Shawn at her side Alice passed away the day after Thanksgiving. The financial burden of funeral expenses was left to her children. Alice has always said she did not want to be cremated and her daughters are trying their best to honor that wish. Due to Covid at this time no services will be held for family and friends but Michelle and Shawn have found a plot in Lansing KS at Mt Muncie Cemetery. It’s on top of a hill with a beautiful view of a pond to bury their Mother. They have also decided to do a all natural green burial where she will be laid to rest in a biodegradable casket with no embalming fluid so that her body can return to the earth as from where she came. The cost of the plot, opening and closing of the grave as well as the green service is just shy of $5000.
Michelle is a long time friend who is dear to my heart. She has always been there for my family through all the good and bad times in our life. Without question or hesitation she is always there when I need her and she is the same for all those in her life that she loves. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need and is the most selfless person I have ever met. She is the true example of what kindness and love for other should be and I'm honored to call her my friend. For many years Michelle and her sister Shawn have been taking care of any and all needs for her mother to make sure she had the best care possible. It's now our time to show some love back to the women that shows so much love for all of us. I know this has been a rough year on all of us financial due to the pandemic but I beg of you...if you have any extra to spare please consider donating so that one of my best friends can give her mother a proper burial and lessen the stress and heartache on her plate right now. Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart. Edit- Michelle ask that if anyone has a memory or story they would like to share about her mother Alice please send it to [email redacted]
