Memorial Scholarship for Coach Ron's Legacy

Ron St. John, best known as Coach Ron, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

A lifelong Fair Lawn and Lambert Road resident, Ron graduated from Fair Lawn High School Class of 1979 and later with his bachelors degree from Stockton University. He began coaching at the age of 15 and was best known as Coach Ron to his friends and community.

Ron held many jobs over the years, beginning with a local newspaper route in middle school, working with his dear friends at Herman Brothers Lawn Care, Frito-Lay, and finally spending the last 20 years at Entenmann’s until his retirement. His favorite job, however, was being a husband and father.

Ron met the love of his life in 1990 playing volleyball and later asked Susan to marry him with his speech he wrote on a car wash receipt. They brought into the world two incredible children, Luke and Sarah. Together they spent countless hours at soccer, volleyball, and street hockey games; watching the New York Rangers, New York Giants, New York Mets, and Notre Dame; walking with their pup Leah; and making memories on beach vacations to Myrtle Beach and OBX. Together was always Ron’s favorite place to be.

When he wasn’t spending time with his family, you would often find Ron in the center of a group of friends being the funniest guy in the room. From Friday lunches at Benny’s, to sitting court-side with the other Dads, and countless holiday celebrations.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be collected in Coach Ron’s honor to be donated to Fair Lawn Street Hockey as a scholarship will be made to continue his lifelong impact in the community for many years to come.
