Memorial Garden for Victor Howell
Donation protected
Plant good seeds, yield a great harvest. No one knew that better than my Dad. He would tell us stories for days about what he had anticipated for his gardens, how to grow plants, and “live off the land” and share it with friends and family. He was so proud of his gardens.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of his Life & Legacy celebration, our family is asking for donations to maintain his gardens and to continue his legacy of sharing the literal fruits of his labor.
On behalf of my Mother, sister, and his grandchildren, we appreciate not only your donations, but your compassion in keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
Below I have included my father's obituary so that all of those donating can enjoy a glimpse of the incredible nature of his character. Updates will follow as details unfold regarding opportunities to volunteer and how your kindness preserves life.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Mr. Carlton Howell, Sr., and Mrs. Bernice (Smith) Howell. He was called home on Thursday, May 10, 2018.
In 1980, Victor married the love of his life, Loumertistene (Lou) Howell. During their 37 year marriage, they enjoyed many adventures together in parenting and grandparenting, business ownership, travel, ministry, and real estate and construction.
Victor and Lou were blessed with 2 beautiful daughters (Victeka and Katrina) and 5 precious grandchildren (Olivia, Enoch, Mila, Audrey, and Laila.) It was always important to him to put his family first. Additionally, Victor's "adopted" sons, Vincent Burton, Joshua Sinkfield, Matthew Chisolm, Larvell Hollingsworth, and Terrance Van Pelt were as much part of the family as his own girls.
Aside from being a family man, Victor was blessed with a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and sharing the harvest with friends and family. From organic collard greens, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, berries, to herbs, he grew it all.
In addition to his mother, Victor leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 37 years, daughters, his brothers, a son in law, 4 granddaughters, 1 grandson, a god son, many brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a host of very treasured family and friends.
May God grant unto each of you his richest blessings for your love.
