Memorial Funeral fund for Roberta Gruber

On April 26th 2020 our beloved mother and grandmother, Roberta Gruber, was awaiting test results that had come back positive for Covid-19. At the time her symptoms were shortness of breath and coughing, which eventually led to pain and numbness in her legs. She was then taken to the emergency room, where she was told that her symptoms were untreatable and her leg pain was dismissed as body aches. Ultimately she was turned away to deal with the pain on her own. In the early morning hours on April 28th her eldest grandson immediately rushed her to another hospital as the pain in her legs worsened. After her grandson explained the severity of her pain and symptoms she was admitted to the hospital where they discovered blood clotting in her legs caused by Covid-19. Upon the discovery she was flown out to The University of New Mexico Hospital Intensive Care Unit in Albuquerque, NM. From there doctors placed her on a ventilator and performed emergency surgery to remove and prevent further blood clotting in her legs. The morning of the surgery was the last time we spoke to our mother and grandmother. After a month of fighting Covid-19 we learned that her fight was ending. Unfortunately, on May 29th 2020, our beloved mother and grandmother went home to be with her mother and father.  Heaven received an angel from earth.

Roberta was 66, she was an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and resided in Coyote Canyon, NM. She was a dedicated and passionate home health care provider who treated each of her patients as if they were her own family. She was a generous, caring, loving person and was always willing to help whenever and however she could. Most importantly she was a hard worker with her heart full of care and compassion.  Before contracting Covid-19 she was hastily sewing masks for the elderly and children of her community and surrounding areas.

This tragedy has put great pain and disbelief upon our family to lose such a wonderful, caring, loving person in our lives. The pain we feel is unimaginable and we greatly miss her with every ounce of our beings. She was the kindest sweetest person anyone has ever had the privilege of knowing, she would give the shirt off her back. Our mother and grandmother has touched so many lives and left her family knowing how a truly sincere caring person she was. She leaves behind her loving family of four children and eight grandchildren. She would always put others before herself. She was an amazing grandmother and a one of a kind mother to her family. The loss we feel cannot even be comprehended as we grieve this tragedy. We take comfort in knowing she is in heaven watching over and protecting us.

My name is Jodie Antonio, eldest daughter of Roberta Gruber. The funds raised will be put towards funeral/memorial expenses as well as mortgage payments and any unpaid bills of my mother’s.  Our family greatly appreciates your help and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you and God Bless. Please stay home and stay safe.
