Thousands loved my dad, and with a career spent serving others and helping those in need, he rarely ever thought of himself. He always was concerned with others and ensuring they were provided for, loved and knew it! He was the best man I knew, and he's dearly missed. He's survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Hairgrove, and three kids, Christy Canfield (Steven Canfield), Nathan Hairgrove (Christina Hairgrove) and Jonathan Hairgrove (Rachel Hairgrove). He had nine grandchildren, to whom he was a proud "Poppa": Grace (23), Jael (21), Aiden (20), Hudson (17), Ace (17), Megan (14), Silas (10), Jackson (8), Liam (5).

I am so lucky to have been raised by such a fantastic man and thankful that when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2012, I decided to move to South Carolina to be closer to him and my mom. What a wise decision that turned out to be, as I was able to spend time with him, and he also was able to be in my sons' lives for almost six years. He was the absolute best Poppa and did everything with his grandchildren. He gave the highest-valued asset he had...time.

The money raised here will be put into an account to help my mom with future needs and enable her to travel to see her kids in Michigan, Pennsylvania and family in Colorado.
