On March 6th early Sunday morning Shae Lopez and Dirky Cruz were driving home from their work place Little Doms Seafood in Carpinteria, CA to the home that they share together in Oxnard, CA. While driving home they collided with a car that had been driving on the wrong side of the freeway . Due to the severity of the crash Shae unfortunately died on site of the accident while Dirky survived he has suffered severe injuries which include multiple fractures to his legs and has currently had 2 surgeries in order to help get him stabilized . He is currently being transported to a rehabilitation facility that specializes in physical therapy , his road to recovery will be lengthy and require lots of time and dedication. We hope to take some financial burden off of Dirky’s plate so that he is able to fully focus on his recovery along with supporting Shae’s family as well during such a difficult time and unexpected loss.

Shae worked as a hostess at Little Doms Seafood part time , but full time she worked for the Ventura County special Olympics something that was very near and dear to her heart. Shae and Dirky are some of the most kind, generous, authentic human being’s I have ever met, the kind of people that make the world a better place. Shae was such a strong vivacious presence , the only thing bolder than her insanely live fashion style was her heart. I have been a first hand witness to the capacity of love, compassion, and empathy she had for those she loved and cared for. I have watched Shae go above and beyond for so many, she had such a gift for creating a family atmosphere I believe she made everyone around her feel like they had a place where they belonged. I know she lived her life from a place of love and understanding. I find it only fitting that in this time of immense hardship and grief that we all come together and support Shae and Dirky because I know they would do the same for us.

All funds raised will go directly to Dirky , Shae’s life partner of 8 years and Shae’s family to help cover memorial expenses and Dirky’s current medical bills. Our hope is to lighten the burden during this tragedy for Dirky and Shae’s families and to allow space and time to begin the healing process.
