Memorial Fund for Marcos Figueroa and Family

My older brother, Marcos Figueroa (Marc Fig), passed away unexpectedly in the hospital on New Year's Eve. However, he was not alone at the time of his passing but was surrounded by his sisters and mother. He was 47 years old. He is survived by his wife Tanja, and his two children Marko (6), and Maia (5).

We will remember Marcos as a hilariously blunt and dedicated brother, a sweet kindhearted son, a faithful and devoted husband, a kind loving father, a genuinely concerned and generous friend, a crazy but funny uncle, and a dutifully committed worker.

Marcos was more than the sum of his imperfections, he was many things to different people, especially to those he cared about and dedicated himself to but above all, he was extremely devoted to his children. He leaves behind two wonderful kids who will need our help as a community to protect and provide for them as they grow up without their father. Marcos belonged to a huge international community of friends and family and the outpouring of support has been heartfelt and comforting.

In honor of his memory, we are setting up this memorial fund for the family and friends, near and far, who have reached out to us to see how they can contribute to any upcoming expenses the young Figueroa Family may have as they move forward without my brother, Marcos.

Mi hermano mayor, Marcos Figueroa (Marc Fig), falleció inesperadamente en el hospital la víspera de Año Nuevo. Sin embargo, no estaba solo en el momento de su fallecimiento, sino que estaba rodeado de sus hermanas y su madre. Tenía 47 años. Le sobreviven su esposa Tanja y sus dos hijos Marko (6) y Maia (5).

Recordaremos a Marcos como un hermano hilarantemente contundente y dedicado, un hijo dulce y de buen corazón, un esposo fiel y devoto, un padre amable y cariñoso, un amigo genuinamente preocupado y generoso, un tío loco pero divertido y un trabajador diligentemente comprometido.

Marcos era más que la suma de sus imperfecciones, era muchas cosas para diferentes personas, especialmente para aquellas a las que quería y se dedicaba pero sobre todo, era extremadamente devoto de sus hijos. Deja atrás a dos niños maravillosos que necesitarán nuestra ayuda como comunidad para protegerlos y mantenerlos mientras crecen sin su padre. Marcos pertenecía a una gran comunidad internacional de amigos y familiares y la gran cantidad de apoyo ha sido sincera y reconfortante.

En honor a su memoria, estamos creando este fondo conmemorativo para la familia y los amigos, cercanos y lejanos, que se han acercado a nosotros para ver cómo pueden contribuir a los próximos gastos que la joven familia Figueroa pueda tener a medida que avanzan sin mi hermano marcos
