Scholarship Fund honoring Javarius and Chase
On behalf of Tamecha Buck, the Barfield and the Fernandez families, we are fundraising in memory of two sons, gone too soon.
The family accepts your heartfelt condolences and appreciates your prayers and gifts of kindness.
Donations are being accepted to assist with the establishment of a memorial foundation and scholarship in the name of the boys and to support Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD).
If you know Tamecha, you know that her boys mean everything to her. She was a Team Mom and sometimes coach for her boys athletic teams. She worked hard and played even harder with her boys. She enjoyed spending time with them during their activities and loved sharing new experiences with them. On Aug 2, 2021, Javarius Barfield (19) and his brother Chase Fernandez (8), were taken away from Tamecha, family, and friends during a family vacation to the Grand Canyon.
Javarius Barfield, born July 16, 2002, was a rising sophomore at Clark-Atlanta University studying Computer Science with a major in Business. Barfield is remembered by friends and coaches as a comic, great athlete, and comforting friend, with an optimistic and charismatic personality. He is loved by many and will be missed tremendously.
Chase Fernandez, born March 3, 2013, was a rising third grader with an impressive Mandarin and Korean vocabulary. He was a creative and athletic spirit. Chase took piano lessons, played soccer, basketball, baseball, football, and a swimmer on a team with Swim Atlanta of Sugarloaf. He made friends wherever he went and was the "Sonshine" that brightened our gloomiest days.
