On Sunday May 3, 2020 my father Franklin Macato Sr. was called home to God. After fighting relentlessly against his battle with adenoid cystic carcinoma (a rare form of cancer), he can now rest and be free and at peace from his suffering. Being the fighter that he was, I know that he gave his all until the very end.
Most of you knew him as a real Southside Stockton OG, that 1 Cool MC, Ubon, a die hard Raiders fan but he was so much more. He was a loving father to me and my younger brother Frankie. He was Teresita's wild middle child. He was Greg and Belinda's charismatic brother. He was that cool, funny and undeniably charming uncle, cousin, and friend that everyone loved being around. His energy and presence lit up any room and will forever be missed. Without doubt, his spirit will be carried on through me and Frankie.
This week my family and I have been receiving an incredible amount of love, support and prayers and we can not express enough how truly grateful we all are to know how loved he was by so many. I have started this fund to help my family cover the costs of bringing my father home from Arizona to Stockton, CA as his final resting place. That was his last request. For those that would like to pay final respects, funeral services are listed below.
Viewing will be held
Thursday May 14 from 11-3pm
Deyoung Memorial Chapel
601 N California St, Stockton, CA
Due to COVID-19 and the physical distancing and stay at home orders, the services for my father are very limited. The operation of the viewing is as follows; guests will be allowed to drive up to the designated area at the chapel and get out of their vehicles to see him, sign a memorial book and pay their respects. However, he and my family will be on one side of a protective glass while visitors remain on the opposite side.
The chapel has informed us that guests must not congregate in the parking lot. We also ask to be mindful of others that may be waiting to pay their respects through this unconventional service.
Burial will be held
Friday May 15 at 2pm
San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery
Please be advised that at the burial all guests must remain in their vehicles roadside until my father is lowered and buried. The cemetery is limiting groups of 10 at a time to place flowers after. In accordance with the cemetery, no loud music is to be played. We also ask that you give the immediate family priority and patience at Frank's grave site.
A church mass and celebration of life are to be determined once large gatherings are allowed.
Thank you all again for the love and support that you have shown me and my family during this difficult time.
