Former teacher and current Principal at Austin Japanese School, Kaori Kitta and her husband, Sherrod, passed away due to a tragic car accident on August 18, 2023. Not only as a teacher at Austin Japanese School, Ms. Kitta contributed to the Japanese and Asian communities as a calligraphy and Japanese teacher in various events and classes. She was a loving mother of 3 young adults, all of them still in college, and she also was a respected teacher and friend to many people in Austin and Japan.

Austin Japanese School has set up this funding to support the grieving children of Ms. Kaori Kitta and her husband. We would like to support the young adults who are going through this difficult time. If you or your family member's life has been touched by Ms. Kaori Kitta, please consider helping her family.

長年にわたりオースチン日本語補習授業校で教鞭を執られ、本年度校長先生に就任された橘田かおり先生とご主人（シェロッドさん）が、8月18日に交通事故の犠牲となり、ご逝去されました。橘田先生は補習校のみならず、書道や日本語の講師等、日本・アジアコミュニティーなど様々な形で貢献されてきました。橘田先生にお世話になった方や、影響を受けた方もたくさんいらっしゃると存じます。

またあとに残された3人のお子様方はまだお若く、３人ともまだ大学生でいらっしゃいます。突然の訃報に悲しまれておられるお子様方への支援をさせていただければと、オースチン日本語補習授業校にてこちらの基金を立ち上げることにいたしました。
