Memorial Fund for Elias Zapatinas
Donation protected
A memorial fund is being established as a simple way for friends to show their support to Jillian Lam and the Zapatinas Family for the loss of their beloved partner, son, brother and best friend: Elias Zapatinas.
About the fundraiser:
My name is Ramez Hanna Alla and I am a close friend of Jill (11yrs), Eli (5yrs) and the Lam family. Through this tragedy, our group of friends have been eager to support in any way they can, much in the same way that Jill and Eli have always been eager and willing to support their friends and family. Given the COVID circumstances and our inability to gather as a group, this fundraiser is being set up to support Jill and both families with funeral costs and any other legal costs that arise from this heartbreak. Give as little or as much as you are comfortable doing.
Stay safe and well.

Guardian. Loyal. Self-less.
Elias was born on November 9, 1990, in Toronto, Ontario. He is the eldest son of Athanasios and Sypridoula Zapatinas.
Growing up, Elias was an adventurous ball of energy, constantly up to something with his brother, Mike, and his best friend, Simo. Even as a kid, Elias excelled at everything he put his mind to. Whether it be school or sports, if he set a goal, he would pursue it with passion and dedication until he achieved it.
Elias graduated from the University of Calgary with his Bachelor of Commerce in 2013 and started his career at Nexen, where he completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Program – the most prestigious finance-related designation. Elias didn’t stop there. He was determined to become an investment banker and worked tirelessly to achieve this goal. It wasn’t easy entering this elite industry, but he didn’t give up until he became an investment banking associate at the Bank of Montreal.
Elias was a very accomplished young man, but his greatest accomplishment was being a rock, role model and leader to his family, girlfriend and friends. Elias was loved and looked up to by so many people because of his honest and genuine character. He was always someone you could count on for advice and guidance and took it upon his shoulders to make sure you knew everything was going to be okay.
He showed his love through the little things, not just through words but by showing up when you needed him. He took care of everyone and everything without ever complaining and with no expectations. Elias is immortalized through the virtues and values he instilled in all of us.
Elias will be lovingly remembered by his father Athanasios; mother Spyridoula; brother Michail; sister Theodora and life partner, Jillian Lam. He will also deeply be missed by his many uncles, aunts and cousins in Greece, family and friends.
