On Tuesday, January 14th, I left this world unexpectedly, at just 26 years old. I was an only child, deeply loved by my parents, and there was so much I still wanted to do—so much more life to live. As an autistic young man, I faced my own challenges, but my family was always there, supporting me every step of the way.

My mom, who has bravely fought cancer twice and is currently battling chronic kidney disease, and my dad, my constant source of strength, are now faced with the unimaginable heartbreak of losing their only child. The pain they’re carrying is beyond words, and to make this even harder, they still don’t know what happened to me. They’ve been told that the investigation could take up to four months, leaving them in a state of uncertainty and heartache as they try to make sense of this tragedy.

I had big plans for the future. I wanted to keep growing, exploring, and sharing my life with my family—especially with my mom, who has always poured so much love into her work as a special education teacher, and my dad, who has always stood by me through everything. But now, those dreams are lost, and my family is left not only with the grief of my sudden departure but with the unknowns that surround it.

As they navigate this incredibly difficult time, my parents are also facing the financial burden of arranging my memorial and funeral. My mom, a special education teacher in California, has always worked hard, but as many know, it’s not an easy profession to rely on financially. The costs of a funeral and memorial services are adding even more stress to their already heavy hearts.
