Memorial Fund for Daniel Chavez - Covid-19 Victim
Donation protected

We are devastated by the loss of our friend and coworker Daniel Chavez, who passed away from COVID-19 complications. Daniel was an integral part of our community at Sisters, and we are heartbroken for his family. We are raising funds to assist them with memorial costs and living expenses during this tragic time.
Originally from Tepapayeca, Puebla, Daniel was living in Queens with his wife, and his kids Valerie (age 5), Daniel (age 17) and Stephanie (age 21).
He worked in the kitchen at Sisters for the past two years, as well as cooking at another restaurant nearby with his 17 year old son, Daniel.
After becoming sick, he was being treated at New York Presbyterian in Flushing, one of the hospitals in Queens that has been completely overwhelmed by the virus. Corona, Queens, the neighborhood where the Chavez family is living, has the highest positive testing rate in the country for COVID-19.
At this time, the Chavez family is not able to access the emergency reimbursement funds for final resting arrangements of COVID-19 victims. As such, we hope to raise these funds for the family, as well as some additional funding to help them cover living expenses while they are grieving. Funds will be disbursed directly to the family.
The entire staff at Sisters is in shock over this loss, and it is felt particularly acutely among our kitchen staff members. We thank you for your generosity in helping our community support the Chavez family.
