Memorial fund for Cory K. Wilson

Donation protected
As Cory's sister, Kalandrea (Kayla) Wilson I am fundraising this GoFundMe on behalf of our family.

My family has been greatly affected by our son, brother, uncle Cory Keith Wilson’s passing on December 22nd, 2021, early in the morning. He passed away at Salem hospital in Salem, OR. He has left a great void in our lives. What a journey he has taken us on! From birth as a baby and all the way to a 34-year-old strong, handsome man.

He had incredibly physical strength! Such a huge loving heart he had for our family, relatives and friends.

...always playing with his nieces and nephews whether it be playing video games with his 14-year-old nephew, teasing his nieces, or playing with Godzilla toys with his 4 yr. old nephew. The time our family had with him was a blessing and a gift to us. Our love for him is enormous!

He was smart and intelligent as well. It's surprising how he made you think as he made you see it. It showed through his written reports that he reported back to his company. They told him from his employer, “Cory - your writing is almost as good as your work.” ;)

As his uncles are quite skilled in cooking, grilling, smoking meats, he picked up on that too and was teaching himself how to prepare each type of meat that piqued his interest. What he’s made for us in the past couple and half years was incredible! He was patient and always took time to make the best grilled or smoked meats.

Cory worked out of Ironworkers Local #29 from Portland, OR as a Journeyman Rodman. He was known as a strong, skillful, tough worker. He boomed around the country including working in Alaska. My dad’s expression here following; “There is a saying that went around and that's what comes to mind when I think of my son Cory. That expression is, he is and was living the dream.” Working as an ironworker he would travel around the country, and he lived that dream until, Dec. 3rd, 2021, the last day he worked.

Cory was one of the biggest Pittsburgh Steelers fan around. He would always watch games with my dad and myself, his sister, everytime they played. He has a favorite Steelers cap that is very worn and he proudly wore it almost everyday.

He leaves behind his parents Marilyn and Steven Wilson, sisters Kayla Wilson and Krysta Wilson. Also, his brother-in-law Joseph Alvarez, 3 nephews and 2 nieces altogether. James, Kailyn, Josiah, Sophia and Luis.

With all the emotional pain and stress that a death brings, it also brings financial burdens. We are trying to raise money for the family to help with any costs that will incur and to help wherever needed. Ever since this tragic event occurred the family has taken a lot of time off from work. We want to ease stress on the family caused by outstanding costs of the memorial services and what comes after. The family is planning on having two services, one here in Oregon and one in Arizona for family and friends that cannot travel to Oregon during this time. One big barrier regarding traveling is the Omicron variant.

The first memorial service will be in Woodburn, Oregon on Saturday, February 04th, 2022. The second memorial is in Arizona, our homeland on the Navajo Reservation. That is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022. If anything changes regarding these two important dates, we will update that information immediately on this GoFundMe page for Cory.

In sharing this, please pray for our family as we walk through this daily with all the organization, planning, needs, necessities, details to be covered. The entirety of this weight on our shoulders has been with us from the time our son has left us for heaven. We hope and pray for both memorials to go smoothly as possible with the aid of family members, immediate and extended.

We are very thankful for all and any support you may be able to provide!

He’s gone to home to heaven. Cory is with the Lord Jesus now. Our baby, our son, our brother, our uncle, grandson and nephew.
