Memorial fund for Celia

Celia moved to Wayne in the 8th grade and quickly became friends with just about everyone.  I met her the next year in Wayne Valley and we were soon attached at the hip, and our friendship lasted until she passed away just a few weeks ago.  In all those years, I've seen Celia help anyone who asked (and many who didn't ask).  Her nick name quickly became "Super Cel" stemming from her quick ability to help and save. She was a treasure of a friend.
Celia started her battle with cancer in 2013, after she was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer.  After undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, she went back to work to support her son and help her mother with the finances.  Unfortunately, she would soon prepare for her second battle with cancer when it returned in her bones.  She laced up her gloves again, ready to fight one more time.  She had treatment again and surgery to remove the ribs which were riddled with cancer.  Another battle won.  She went on to find work and support her son, Mateo, with all her might and drive. She was one hell of a mother.
Unfortunately, she was told the wrong ribs were taken out, and the cancer was still festering in her body.  Another bump in the road.  More treatment, more chemo, more radiation.  This time we were certain THIS time was it. She was done! However, as cancer is one of life's biggest opponents, it was ready for another round, only she fought the last battle silently. The cancer has spread to her skull and her brain.  Not wanting to worry her son, her mother, her brother or her friends, she told no one. She passed with her family by her side on December 2.
Celia was the main contributer to the household. Without her financial support, her son and mother will have to move, and be uprooted from their home they shared with Celia.  As the holidays are upon us, let's remember all the ways Celia gave to us, helped us, and supported us in our time of need.  Please help in giving back, to ensure her son has the stablity to sustain the life he shared with his mother.  To help her mother reside in the home she shared with her daughter.  If everyone who Celia helped over the years donated a few dollars, it would help tremendously.
Let's keep her spirit alive! Let's always tell stories and laugh at the vivid memories we were lucky enough to create with such an amazing friend, mom, sister and daughter.  We will forever love you, Celie!
