Memorial for Tracey Edwards

Donation protected

My name is Kyle Edwards and my sisters name is Ashley Edwards and June 19th 2021 we had our worlds flipped upside down

Tracey (my mom) worked over 25 years at Canadian Mental Health Association Regina branch helping individuals with mental illness and disorders as a career, creating life long bonds with these individuals teaching them life skills, money management and being the supportive nonjudgmental mentor she loved to be. Her mother and father living in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan started to have health issues back in 2016 to 2018 which at that time she took a leave of absence from work to take care of her parents not only  physically, emotionally and spiritually but also being the power of attorney for them. With her plate being full as it is my mother would stay in Moose Jaw each week with her parents looking after them and helping them with day to day needs, driving them to appointments etc. Occasionally my mom  would find time to come home to Regina to change clothes check missed messages check the mail and make sure her 2 children myself(Kyle) and my sister(Ashley) and her granddaughter(Emma) were doing alright and take care of her little pets 2 cats and a dog. My mom was the most supportive, nonjudgmental, loving, giving person I have ever known. In 2016 she held her fathers hand as he passed from Alzheimer’s and in 2018 held her Mother/Best friends hand when she passed of heart failure.  My mom was grieving herself and also being a major support for myself my sister and her little granddaughter always making sure everyone else was alright being the selfless woman she is. Shortly after the passing of her Mother she left her job Due to depression and physical illness. June 14th 2021 my mom went in for Hysterectomy surgery and from what I know went well and sent home the next day June 15th 2021 with recovery instructions and the support of her daughter, granddaughter, son and best friend Arlene all at her house ready to help with open arms. Tracey slept mostly with little visiting June 16th, 17th, 18th with little to n complaining of pain or discomfort following her recover plan. On June 19th Tracey’s granddaughter Emma Edwards was celebrating her 11th birthday with a small children’s get together at the house, around 3:00pm  Tracey decided to wake up and use the bathroom at which time Ashley asked her how she was doing and if she could help her out in any way, Tracey then responded with mumbling and showing clear alarming signs of a possible stroke, Traceys friend Arlene who was at the house for the little girls birthday party was noticing this and quickly decided to call 911 at that time, a few minute go by the paramedics come to Tracey’s house and observe that Tracey indeed did have a stroke and got her into the ambulance and down to the hospital quickly as possible for further care. I (Kyle ) come upstairs to check on the little get together and see how my mother is feeling and I get so confused wondering what is going on and why my mom is being put into the back of an ambulance. Ashley then told me my mother had a stroke she is being looked at and taken to the hospital to be stabilized and taken care of.  Around 20 minutes later I was interrupted from entertaining the little ones in the back yard to sheer panic so I ran into the house and asked Ashley what’s wrong and she then told me she just received a phone call from the doctor at the hospital that my mom was in cardiac arrest fighting for her life. Ashley and Arlene  headed down to the hospital and I was left to chaperone the children with a sick knot in my stomach and eyes full of tears in shock but I knew I had to stay focused and keep the kids safe and not show the emotions I was feeling and keep a positive attitude. Ashley’s good friend Jessica helped me with the the birthday get together and entertain the kids so once the kids were having supper I decided to go into a room alone to finally think about what is happening with my mom so suddenly and 10 minutes later I wiped my eyes said a prayer and went to check on the birthday and at that time Jessica had just got off the phone with my sister and was standing at the doorway of the room I was in with absolute devastation on her face and was struggling but trying to tell me that my mother has just died.

I did my best for the rest of the night to wrap up the birthday party not let Emma or the other little kids see my pain and remain positive after hearing this news. Later on that night Ashley and Arlene returned from the hospital in tears and sorrow and explained to me they found out from one of the doctors attending to my mother she had 5 litres of blood in her abdomen and her whole body became septic which caused the heart failure that lead to her death. My mother was sent home from the general hospital the day after her hysterectomy surgery still bleeding internally.  I have allot of questions that need answers to say the least, now with memorial costs. funeral arrangements and the follow up of a loved one passing put in front of us so sudden the financial part of it we are struggling with so we decided to let the community know who this amazing loving Mother, Friend, Grandma, Sister Tracey Edwards was and ask the community if they could help us give my mother the proper memorial she truly deserves. Anything helps and from this family to yours we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and god bless you.
