Memorial for Shawn McCartney

Our beloved father, Shawn McCartney, recently passed on 08/25/21 after spending the last few months going in and out of the hospital due to heart complications. A few weeks ago he underwent a successful surgery for a pacemaker, only to have acquired COVID-19 shortly thereafter, which led to his unexpected passing. The sense of loss I feel, as well as the rest of my family is indescribable. My dad was a wonderful son, friend, and father who touched the lives of those around him. He leaves behind my brothers and I, in addition to my wonderful little sister who thinks of herself as his bonus daughter.

My dad dedicated his life to serving the Lord and spreading the word. One of the greatest gifts our father gave us during our childhood was teaching us to do good and to have unwavering faith. He also dedicated his life to my siblings and I. Despite the times my dad was not was not in my life, my love for my father never faltered. I knew that he was always going to keep trying to remain in our lives and he did just that. Up until the past few months I'm thankful for the last memories I had made with my dad such as the times we got pedicures together at the salon, pretended to be kids at main event, or when we went to eat Chinese food... He really did love Chinese food. The greatest thing about my dad was his love and kindness not just for us but for everyone he came into contact with. He truly had the biggest heart, one of the many things I loved and admired him for.

As heartbreaking and as difficult as it is to have to think about and prepare for this part of his passing, my family is not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service. We want to give him the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes. I am currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of my father's funeral. We need to raise $4,500 by 09/19/21 in order to afford the funeral service.
