Memorial For Matt Smolar

Matt unexpectedly passed away on January 11, 2022, leaving behind his lovely wife, Kate Knutsen. His parents, Karen and Joe Smolar; his sister and her husband Julie and Jeremy Sherman, their two boys Braden and Carson; and his beloved pup Rip, along with many other family and friends that loved him dearly.
Matt had many hobbies and pastimes. He would often share stories of the good times and memories of spending time at the family cabin in Alaska fishing and hanging out with his dad, who was particularly special to him.
A couple years back, he and Kate moved into a cute little house in Enumclaw where he felt at home and quickly became tight-knit with his neighbors. He could often be found doing yard work and home improvement projects on their cozy nest.
Kate's passion and love for her horses also kept Matt busy with chores at the barn. He was always quick to share stories of his wife and her horses, which will be missed.
So many people have come forward to share their admiration and love for Matthew. Time after time, it's been shared how his positivity, caring, and tenderness impacted someone's life and that he would be the person to turn to at a time like this. Thoughts of remembrance of his voice, smile, laugh, and yes, his signature hair continues to be reminisced.
