Memorial for Martin Schmitt

Hi, this GoFundMe is being set up for Martin Schmitt.

On November 25, 2021 Martin "Marty" Schmitt passed away. Marty attended Taconic Hills High School where he was a member of the soccer, swimming, tennis, and baseball teams. Marty was also the Vice President of the Class of 2019. After high school, Marty enlisted in the US Navy, and shortly after he attended Hudson Valley Community College where he studied clean energy management. He loved playing trumpet with his Popa Marty in the Ghent Band. He also loved fishing with his Popa Pete and many of his friends. Some of Marty's favorite pastimes were spent cooking and hiking with his girlfriend Jen.

Marty was the sweetest, kindest, most loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, boyfriend, and friend anyone could have asked for. If you were lucky enough to know Marty than you knew he was a genuine, kind soul with an infectious smile. He was the kind of person who never met someone he couldn't have a conversation with. He was a friend to everyone, and had a huge impact on everyone that had the pleasure of meeting him. Though he is no longer with us, he will always live on in the hearts of friends and family. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by his family and friends. Martin is survived by his mother Dana O'Leary, father Martin Schmitt Jr., and step mother Rebecca Schmitt. His siblings Willow Day, Lily Schmitt, Christian Schmitt, and niece Oceana Brown. His Grandparents Marty Schmitt Sr., Ellen and Peter Davis, and Terry and Jane O'Leary. His Uncle Darren O'Leary and his Aunts Analyn O'Leary and Marlene Powers. His cousins Elliana and Gavin O'Leary and MaryJane and Charlie Fields. Also. the love of his life Jen Runyon.

We are raising money on behalf of the Schmitt Family to ease the financial strain, and to assist giving Martin the memorial he deserves. Thank you for all the support, prayers, and donations during this difficult time. I know it means the world to Martin and his family.
