Memorial for Mackenzie Fundraiser

Donation protected
On December 6th 2023 we lost a friend, a family member, and a son.
Mackenzie McGrath Smith (aka Mack) was a very compassionate young man who loved animals and was a very loyal friend. He attended Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in St. Catharines before moving to Gabriola Island, BC in October of 2019, where he worked at the local Co-op and made many friends.

Mackenzie was an Air Cadet at 128 Thorold Flying Dragons Squadron, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He participated in the drill team, the band and thoroughly enjoyed the survival aspect of the program. He loved spending time outdoors while camping and fishing with his family and his many pets.

Mackenzie is survived by his parents Tammy McGrath (Carey-Ann Marshall); predeceased by his father, Randy Smith (Kathy McLaughlin). Dear brother of Clare and James Williamson and Connor and Levi Smith. He will be missed by his grandparents: Donnellda and Jack McGrath, Doreen and Bert Marshall, Delores and the late Isaac Smith, his aunts and uncles: Susan and Pat Chouinard and Jim and Hanh McGrath; and his cousins: Joel and Camille Chouinard and Tuan Tran.

Through this fundraiser, we are looking to raise money to erect a memorial tree and or bench in his name. The city of St. Catharines offers a Memorial Tree Planting Program, as well as a Memorial Bench Program as a way to leave a lasting memory of our loved ones.

The cost of planting a memorial tree through the City of St. Catharines is $651.95 (including all taxes and fees)
This fee covers the tree, planting the tree, general maintenance on the tree and a plaque.

The cost of erecting a memorial bench through the City of St. Catharines is $2774 (in a parkway style - Any standard City park or greenspace including the Welland Canal Parkway and Jaycee Park).
This fee covers the concrete pad, bench, plaque, general maintenance.

By donating you bring us one step closer to creating an artifact signifying the life of "Mackenzie Mcgrath Smith". Whether it be a tree or bench (depending on how much is donated), we need your help. We have until April 1st to apply with the City for the spring season to apply to either memorial program. Donations can be made through gofundme or in person at Mackenzies Celebration of Life from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 350, 57 Lakeport Road, Port Dalhousie.

All money will be handled by the family, and if extra will be used to help with end of life expenses
