Help Honor Kalilah's Wishes

Dear friends and family,

As we all know, we have recently lost our dear friend Kalilah Shmeow. This is a huge loss for so many of us. It cuts deep, and I know we are all hurting and want to help in some way. Contributing and sharing this campaign is a great way to help! Myself (Sami) and Hallie started this GoFundMe to help raise funds needed to carry out her wishes. Thankfully she was very open with her friends about exactly what she would want in this situation and we are happy, as a team, to give her the send off she deserves. We have been in communication with her sisters who are handling the legal aspects, and we, as her chosen family are trying to raise money to cover the costs of what is to come, so it does not cause financial hardship for her family or friends.

What will your donation go to?

1. The chosen death care option, at her sister's recommendation is Aquamation. It is a much more environmentally conscious choice over cremation and using water instead of fire, and yields a similar end result. After the process is complete, there will be a product similar to ashes that will be distributed accordingly to family and friends. Aquamation is a really cool option and if you are not familiar with it, feel free to look further into it. And she loved baths so this seems a perfect choice for her.

2. As for her wishes with some of her ashes.... If you know Kalilah, you know how much she loved makeup. And how unconventional she is. So this will actually be fun to do for her... Her wishes are to have her remains pressed into makeup! Your contributions after the aquamation is paid for, will go towards the supplies it will take to make an official Shmeow "Tolerate You" make up line for her loved ones to have and wear if they choose. Of course they will be bright colors with lots of glitter!

3. Shmeow was very clear that she did not want a traditional funeral or memorial, and that she wanted a fun party in her honor. So a fun party she will get! The date is not set for the event yet,so stay tuned for more details, but it will be essentially Shmeowfest , a punk rock art show! Bands that she loved will be playing, and her vast catalog of art will be displayed. Everyone will get to take some Shmeow art home with them that day. Your contributions will be used to help make this show happen, and for buttons, shirts, patches and whatever things she would want for her last hurrah.

4. Also, As we know her roommate Rachael was depending on Kalilah for rent, and thankfully Kalilah had rent paid through January. Some of these contributions can also go to Rachael to help with rent if needed in this hard an unexpected time.

SO, THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR HELPING KALILAH GET THE SEND OFF SHE WANTED AND DESERVES.

WE ALL UNDERSTAND TIMES ARE HARD, AND IF YOU CAN'T CONTRIBUTE FINANCIALLY, ITS OK. We will also be taking donations of picture frames for her art show. So if you can't give money right now, keep your eyes peeled for frames, sized small to medium . We will need a lot of them to display all of her beautiful art.
