Back in January of this year Eric Anderson lost his life in a tragic way. In trying to think how to convey what Eric meant to everybody who knew him I'm brought back to something a co-worker wrote about him shortly after his passing:
Sunday night a Man whom to many was a friend lost his life. He was my friend, my brother in Christ. I loved him like family, and respected him. His words had value and I trusted his opinion like it was the only one.
I wonder if Eric ever knew how much people believed in him, or how much of an impact he had on people. As the week has drifted by, I have many questions that may never be answered. As we are all asking ourselves these questions. There is one thing that remains apparent. He lived his life for others, no matter how hard it was for him to do so.
I saw every day for 6 years how much he was madly in love with his wife. He talked about her often, and respected her like you could only hope for with your own spouse. I'd sneak a peak of him texting Shay little love notes while I grabbed the students assignments from the printer. He spoke highly of his Mother and Father, and their attempts and challenges during his teen years, which he respected. I think that's what made him such an amazing teacher! Right before we'd have time off of work he would always express his exciting plans with his sister, brother in-law and of course his beautiful twin nephews, whom he adored!
I miss our debates, our deep conversations about God, our crap talking, sharing the same love/ hate relationship for the job, I miss my small spouts of being mad and how his infectious teen boy laugh would snap me right out of it. I miss my boss, my friend!!! I will always remember you and respect you Eric Anderson. See you on the other side, and until then enjoy those wings!!!
One of the things Eric really loved to do was to go to the San Diego Zoo. He enjoyed sharing that experience with his family, especially his two nephews. He loved showing his friends pictures that he had taken of trips to the Zoo with his family memebers. So, it is with that in mind that this memorial fund is being set up so that Eric can be remembered with a memorial plaque at the San Diego Zoo.
100% of the funds for this campaign will go for the purchase of a special plaque(s) in memory of Eric. All decisions for the type/placing of the memorial will be done with family involment and approval.
Please donate what you can, every little bit gets us closer to our goal.
